Today, volunteers from Samta Vikas Sansthan visited village Sarra, Tendukheda Block, to talk with adolescent girls (ages 10–19) from disadvantaged communities about gender discrimination and patriarchy.
These issues directly affect their daily lives. Many girls in such communities face restrictions on education, movement, and decision-making. They are often told what they can or cannot do simply because they are girls.
Why is this work important?:
1. Gender discrimination stops their education
If we do not address it, more girls will drop out of school, lose confidence, and miss opportunities for a better future.
2. Patriarchy limits their freedom
Girls are not allowed to make decisions about their own lives. If this continues, they will remain dependent and unable to build their own identity.
3. Early marriage becomes a risk
In patriarchal settings, child marriage is still common. Without intervention, girls may be forced to marry early, harming their health, education, and future.
4. Mental health suffers silently
Constant pressure, discrimination, and restrictions create stress and fear. Ignoring this means more girls will suffer silently without support.
